What to Do When You’re Stuck and Finally Ready to Create the Life You Deserve

“You don’t need a breakdown to change your life. You just need a moment of radical honesty.” — Erica

📌 Save this post for later — it’s the one you’ll come back to when you’re feeling stuck in the hallway between your old life and the one you’re meant for.

You’re not lost. You’re just in the hallway.

There’s a moment in life where everything goes quiet. You’re not who you used to be… but you haven’t stepped fully into the next version of yourself either. And in that space—in that sacred pause—is where everything starts to change.

This is what I call the hallway. That in-between space. The waiting season.

And today, I want to tell you why that space is not something to rush through. Why your life is not behind. Why your soul is actually whispering: “Slow down. Something sacred is happening here.”

In my most recent podcast episode, I break down the truth about these quiet, uncomfortable, often misunderstood seasons. You can listen to it here. But this blog? This is where we go deeper.

Because your second life begins here.

And it starts by no longer fearing the in-between.

The Hallway Between Two Lives

Let me paint the picture. Imagine you’re standing in a dim hallway. Behind you, the door is cracked open. Inside is everything familiar. Old roles, old habits, old patterns. Things that once kept you safe.

But the air feels different now. That room no longer fits. It’s too tight. Too dim. Too small for the version of you who has been growing quietly in the background.

And ahead of you? Another door. Closed, glowing faintly. You can’t see exactly what’s behind it, but you know it’s yours.

This is the hallway. And this… this is where most people give up. Because it feels uncomfortable. Undefined. Unstable.

But what if I told you that this is where the shift really begins?

What if the hallway isn’t a place of stuckness… but a space of sacred transformation?

You’re Not Behind. You’re Being Rebuilt.

Woman holding her head in frustration, representing emotional fatigue and the heaviness of transformation.

The world teaches us that stillness means failure. If you’re not hustling, fixing, improving, proving—you must be behind, right?

Wrong.

Stillness is where the clarity rises. It’s where the dust settles and your intuition speaks up. It’s where the masks fall away and your real voice finds its volume again.

You’re not broken. You’re becoming.

And becoming takes space. Becoming takes rest. Becoming takes a radical kind of honesty that says:

“This old life isn’t mine anymore.”

And that truth? That changes everything.

Stop Looking for the Breakdown

I used to think something dramatic had to happen for me to change my life. Some giant explosion or breakdown or rock bottom.

But the most powerful shifts? They happened in quiet moments.

In long walks. In tear-filled journal entries. In that breathless second where I finally whispered to myself:

"I can’t do this version of my life anymore."

You don’t need chaos to shift. You don’t need pain to pivot. You just need truth.

And in the waiting season? That truth finally has room to rise.

The Portal of Radical Honesty

Woman pausing in a softly lit hallway between doors, reflecting uncertainty and transition.

This is what the hallway really is: a portal.

Not a punishment. Not a delay. A threshold.

It asks you:

  • What are you still carrying that was never yours?

  • What identities have expired, but you’re still trying to keep alive?

  • What dreams are whispering beneath the noise?

It invites you to get radically honest. Not just about what you don’t want. But about what you do.

And then? It invites you to stay. To sit with the discomfort. To not rush forward just to escape it.

Because the clarity you’re waiting for? It’s not out there. It’s in you.

Subtle Shifts That Change Everything

We glorify the big leaps. We glamorize the glow-ups. But most transformations? They start subtle.

They look like:

  • Saying no even when your voice shakes.

  • Getting quiet when you want to numb out.

  • Drinking water instead of spiraling.

  • Leaving the text on read.

  • Replacing "What if it fails?" with "What if it changes me?"

These shifts don’t look dramatic. But they are revolutionary.

They are you, choosing yourself in tiny, consistent, soul-aligned ways. And they’re what prepare you for that second life.

Soul Prompts for the In-Between

Let these be your guide in the hallway:

  1. Where in my life am I staying small because it's familiar?

  2. What version of me is trying to emerge right now?

  3. What truth have I been afraid to speak aloud?

  4. What would it look like to honor my healing pace?

  5. What am I still clinging to out of fear, not love?

Journal them. Reflect. Let your answers guide your next move.

Signs You’re in the Hallway Season

You might be wondering — how do I know I’m in this space? Here are a few soul cues:

  •         You feel emotionally disconnected from things you used to care deeply about

  •          Your routines feel robotic, and joy is harder to access

  •         You’re craving space, solitude, or quiet without really knowing why

  •          You’ve outgrown certain relationships, roles, or environments

  •          You feel like you’re meant for more, but “more” hasn’t arrived yet

If any of these hit… you’re not broken. You’re in the hallway. And the fact that you feel the discomfort? That means something inside you is waking up.

My Tools for Navigating the In-Between

Here are some of the practices I lean on during these quiet, soul-stretching seasons:

  • Morning journaling (even 5 minutes to free-write my thoughts)

  • My meditation– meditations that make me feel like the future me can conquer anything

  • Being near water without my phone – just being in my own energy

  • Breathwork – a 3-minute grounding breath can change your entire day

  • Soulful Shift Academy – this community is where I go when I need to come back to myself, with tools, guidance, and connection

You don’t need a million practices. You need ones that feel like you. Start small. Pick one. Let it hold you.

What Awaits on the Other Side

When you honor the waiting season… you create space for the life that’s waiting on the other side.

You begin to:

  • Trust your timing

  • Release the roles that never fit

  • Find peace in uncertainty

  • Let your future self lead

The second life doesn’t come crashing in. It arrives gently.

With more breath. More trust. More alignment. More you.

If You’re in the Hallway, You’re Not Alone

I’m still waiting for my own shift too. As I record these podcast episodes and guide my community, I’m also preparing for surgery. For recovery. For a new season.

And I’m learning to meet the in-between with grace, not panic. Because even here, there is purpose. Even here, I am rising.

So are you.

If today’s message hit home, I invite you to listen to this week’s episode:

Empowering Affirmations to Anchor Yourself:

I trust my timing even when I don’t understand it.
I am allowed to pause and still be powerful.
The version of me I’m becoming is already on the way.
I don’t need all the answers to choose myself today.
My second life is already forming in the space I’ve created.
